Blocked Drains & Excavation

We use specialised diagnostic CCTV camera equipment and locators to detect the issue within your pipes. This system is a non-invasive way of finding blocked drains and pipes and treating them efficiently.

The most common problems we find are:

  • Broken drains
  • Roots in the drain
  • Misaligned drain
  • Collapsed drain
  • Foreign objects in the drain

If our camera shows any of these issues, we can provide repair and replacement services to the damaged area. In extreme cases, our experienced plumbers can conduct excavation services to residential and commercial properties in order to replace the existing drain line.

Septic Systems

If you live in a rural area, it is likely that you depend on a septic system to safely store waste products away from your home.

The installation, repair and maintenance of these systems should always be conducted by an expert to avoid contamination of your drinking water. Our team is highly experienced in the installation and repair of all wastewater systems, septic tanks and rain drains.

If you have a problem with your septic or wastewater system, our team can help. Common indicators of an issue include:

  • A clogged or a full tank
  • Slow-flushing toilet
  • Slow drainage
  • Gurgling pipes
  • Sewage backing up in the drains

Our team can identify these issues using our CCTV camera equipment and can provide on-the-spot repairs.

Water Tanks & Irrigation Systems

At Absolute Plumbing Australia, we are Darwin's irrigation specialists and believe a well-planned and designed irrigation system is vital for optimal operation.

Our team can help you make an informed decision that will ensure you benefit from a system that is reliable, efficient and within your budget. We can supply and install all general-purpose water pipes and poly pipes for irrigation applications of both residential and commercial properties.

We also supply and install water tanks with backflow prevention for all property types.

Household Guttering

Your roof and guttering play a vital role in protecting your home from water damage. With this in mind, poorly maintained or installed systems can lead to large problems if not attended to correctly.

Gutters left uncleaned are prone to rust and corrosion, which leads to holes and eventually will need replacement.

Our team will come to your site and inspect the condition of your gutters and downpipes. Once inspected, we can provide suggestions on improving their performance.

With a wealth of experience in the industry, you can trust our team members to install and repair gutters for all residential and commercial requirements.

Appliance Installation

If you've bought a new fridge, dishwasher or washing machine, let our expert plumbers complete the installation for you.

Our team will come to your property and ensure all drainage pipes are connected and secured. We will also inspect the appliance and make sure that it is sitting level and is ready for use.

Backflow Prevention

A backflow prevention containment device ensures that drinking water supplied to Darwin properties are not contaminated by connections from your property.

Our team is fully licensed and experienced in the installation and testing of backflow preventers. We can test your system annually to ensure it meets all legislative requirements.

Welding

At Absolute Plumbing Australia, we are certified poly butt weld and electrofusion welding technicians.

We can weld both pipes and pipeline components quickly and efficiently, minimising waste and water leaks. We also conduct electrofusion welding for major waste and water pipelines.

Property Inspection & Reports

Purchasing a home or business? Make sure you know what you're purchasing by having Absolute Plumbing undertake a property inspection.

After the inspection our team will prepare a report outlining the current condition of the plumbing. This will give an insight into the property before you proceed with the sale.

Low water pressure can be caused by a number of factors, from simple problems such as the shut off valve being partially closed, or the faucet being blocked.

It can also be caused by blocked pipes and water leaks, or there could be issues with your irrigation system. If you notice your water bill has increased significantly, you may be dealing with a leak. Call our team to identify the problem.

  • How do I know if I have a leak?

There are several ways to know if you leak into your home. Firstly, your water bill may be higher than normal, despite your water consumption remaining the same. Secondly, you may notice low water pressure when filling the bath or shower.

If you think you leak, turn off all the water appliances in your home, including the dishwasher and washing machine. Then check the readings on your water metre. Wait 1hr then check the metre again, they should be the same. If not, you leak.

  • How much does it cost for a plumber?

The cost can vary depending on whether it’s an emergency out-of-hours call-out or a scheduled visit. The average cost of a plumber in the Northern Territories is between $100 to $150 per hour.

For an emergency out-of-hours call-out, most plumbers will also charge an emergency call-out fee. This can range from $60 to $100. It’s always a good idea to check how much the call-out fee is before asking the plumber to come out.

  • My toilet won't flush. What can I do?

There are a couple of reasons why your toilet won’t flush. First, check the water levels in the cistern. The water level should reach around 2.5 cm below the overflow tube. If not, manually adjust the ball valve. Turn the screw anti-clockwise to increase the water level.

A damaged or stuck flapper is another reason why your toilet won’t flush. The flapper is located at the bottom of the cistern and releases water into the bowl. Make sure the flapper is working properly. If the flapper needs replacing give us a call on 0407 692 980.

  • How to know when I need a plumber?

Most common plumbing problems like a leaking tap or toilet are not that serious and some homeowners prefer to fix them themselves. But some are more serious and always require the services of a plumber to make sure everything is working safely.

Here are five signs you need to call a plumber:

    • You have no water flowing at all
    • You have no hot water
    • Your water heater is leaking
    • You have low water pressure at the taps
    • Your toilet keeps overflowing
  • Why do my pipes make knocking sounds?

Knocking pipes is a common problem that is caused by one of three issues. Firstly, your supply pipes may be loose. This causes the pipes to knock together when the pressure increases due to a tap being turned on or off.

Secondly, your water pressure may be too high. In this case, the pipes will knock when the water is running. Or you may be suffering from Water Hammer. This is caused by a faulty shut-off valve which is closing suddenly when you turn the tap off.

All the above problems can be easily fixed by an experienced plumber.

  • Why do my drains smell?

Foul-smelling drains are usually caused by bacteria feeding off food waste lodged in your pipes. This releases hydrogen sulphide gas which smells like rotten eggs. You can try to clear the smell yourself by using a combination of baking soda and vinegar.

Start by pouring boiling water down the drain. Then mix a cup of equal parts baking soda and vinegar. Pour the mixture down the drain and wait 5-10 minutes. Then flush again with boiling water. This should clear the smell. If not, give us a call on 0407 692 980.

  • Why does my drain clog and how do I unblock it?

Most drains become clogged due to a build-up of food waste such as fat and cooking oil. You can try to clear this yourself by using the baking soda and vinegar trick mentioned above.

If this fails to remove the blockage, try using a sink plunger. Place the plunger over the plug hole and half-fill the bowl with water to create a seal. Now pump the plunger up and down for about five minutes. If the blockage remains give us a call on 0407 692 980.
